INGREDIENTS OF TOMATO GARLIC MASOOR DAL
- Masoor Dal- ½ cup
- Turmeric powder-¼ tsp
- Tomatoes-½ cup of chopped
- Salt as per taste
- Water-2 cup
- Ghee or oil-1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds-1 tsp
- Mustard seeds-½ tsp
- A few curry leaves
- Hing (asafoetida)- A pinch
- Dry Chili-2-3
- Garlic-2tbs, sliced
Steps of Tomato Garlic Masoor Dal recipe:
Boil the dal—
1.Wash and soak Masoor dal for 10 minutes and then drain the water.
2.Put the dal in pressure cooker and add 2 cups of water.
3.Then add salt,chopped tomato,turmeric powder ,give a stir.
4.Close the lid and pressure cook it in medium flame for 1-2 whistles.
5.Take the cooker off the fire and allow it to cool.
6.When Pressure release,remove the lid and Mash cooked dal gently using a ladle.
Do the tadka—–
1.Heat oil/Ghee in a tadka ladle.
2.When hot, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds,dry red chili pieces, asafoetida powder, curry leaves .
3.Once they splutter, add chopped garlic and saute till they change colour to golden brown.
Mixing dal into tadka—–
1.Once tadka /tempering is ready, pour the tadka in the cooked dal (lentils) and mix them.
Tomato garlic Masoor dal is ready and serve it with rice or chapatti.

- If you want the dal thinner, add more water and bring to a boil.
- You can use any dal for this recipe like toor dal,moong dal or mixed dal also you can do.
