INGREDIENTS OF TOMATO CURRY
- Tomatoes- 1 cup chopped (about 3 medium tomatoes)
- Onions(piaja)-½ cup chopped
- Green chilies(kancha lanka)-2 cut into slit
- Cumin seeds(jeera)-1/2tbs
- Dry chili(sukhila lanka)-3
- Turmeric powder(Haldi gunda)-¼ teaspoon
- Red chilli powder(lanka gunda)-1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder(jeera gunda)-1teaspoon
- Salt to taste(luna)
- Oil(tela)/ghee- 2 tablespoon
- Curry leave-1string
Preparation
Steps of Tomato curry recipe:
- Heat oil/ghee in a kadai or pan.Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds,curry leave,dry chili.
Cumin seeds Curry leave,dry chili - Then add chopped onions and green chillies.
Chopped onions and green chillies - Sauté on medium heat for about 1 to 2 minutes, until the onions turn slightly soft and pink.
Saute till pink color - Then add chopped tomatoes and salt,give it a good stir.
Chopped tomatoes - Now add turmeric powder,chili powder,cumin powder.
Turmeric powder,chili powder,cumin powder - Cook on medium flame until the tomatoes cooked.
Cooked tomatoes - Remove from heat and garnish with curry leaves.
Tomato curry ready - serve hot with rotis, parathas, naan, puris etc. or even just a bowl of hot steaming cooked rice.
