Mango dal /Amba Dali/ Raw mango pappu recipe

Mango dal recipe is made from lentils and raw mango pieces .A tangy mango flavored dal recipe quite popular during summers in the south india.

INGREDIENTS OF MANGO DAL

  • Toor dal-1cup
  • Turmeric powder-½ tsp
  • Water-2 cups

For tempering:

  • Oil-2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds-½ tsp
  • Cumin seeds½ tsp
  • Dried red chillies-3
  • Curry leaves 6-7
  • Garlic -1 tsp chopped
  • Urad dal/split black gram-1/2 tsp

Other  ingredients:

  • Raw mango -1 peeled and chopped into small pieces
  • Salt to taste
    For Garnishing
  • Coriander leave

    Preparation

Steps of Mango Dal recipe:

1.In a pressure cooker, add the toovar dal, turmeric powder, salt and water. Cover the pressure cooker lid and pressure cook it for about 3-4 whistles or pressure cook until it gets soft.2019-05-28-18-07-11

2.when the dal is properly cooked then add mango pieces and mix and cook the mangoes on low flame until they get soft.


3.In a tadka pan add oil and heat it. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds allow them to crackle..Stir well for few minutes on low flame.
4.Add dried red chillies , urad dal ,curry leaves and garlic,fry for a minute.2018-04-07-12-41-15

6.Serve hot with steamed white rice and papad or chutney.2018-04-07-14-01-07.jpg
